I want to know whether it is possible to create a down user(Only for shutdown the server/like in NT) in unix and if it is possible what is the method.
BUT SPECIALY I WANT GIVE THE PERMISSION TO THAT USER TO 'ONLY SHUTDOWN THE SERVER. ENYTHING SIGNIFICANT WICH NEGATIVELY AFFECT TO THE SERVER( LIKE ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS) CAN NOT BE POSSIBLE .
I am using AIX 3.2 version.

Hello again, vajira_g. You should be able to do this one of two ways. In smit(smitty), for the desired user, add system and shutdown to the Roles catagory. Or enter the following from the command line:
chuser "roles=system, shutdown" <username>
In either case, I don't think the user needs to belong to the administrative group. This should do the trick. Another method you may want to investigate is the use of ACL's (Access Control Lists) to the shutdown command specifically for the desired user.
