DDR RAM Backwards Compatible?
Hi Folks,
I built a new machine late last Spring (Asus A7V133 board) and I got two 256MB sticks of PC-133 RAM for it. Alas, one of them went belly up on me yesterday. If I were to buy some of the newer DDR RAM, would it run OK in this board? (I'm thinking ahead to the next new machine that I'll build somewhere down the line, in which I could use DDR RAM.) Your insights are appreciated. Thanks!
Cheers!

Sorry they wont fit, DDR has there cut out notches in different positions.
What make is the PC133, it should still be under guarantee.

Hi Philgo,
Yes, doggone it, I recall now that I had seen that bit about the pins not being the same. I haven't been able to find my sales receipt for this RAM stick that went faulty. The brand apprears to be "ARC", which I guess is really a "no-name." But to replace it outright will not set me back too far. This is all done to support my "computer habit", don't ya know?
