If you have WinFax and PC Anywhere, then I'd skip the Norton removal tool. An uninstall should remove it, provided you get rid of the AVG remnants first.

Thanks, again, guys. I appreciate the comments and help.
Bottom line: I will use removal tools to get rid of remnants of Bit Defender and remove AVG. I will leave Norton alone, since I have pcAnywhere and Winfax working well. Notwithstanding Han's earlier problems, I will load in Kaspersky and give it a trial. Hopefully, I can tell Han a month from now that Kaspersky is God's gift to mankind.

FYI:
Shut down the computer overnight. When I booted up this a.m., even the sluggishness is gone. (Even though I had done a reboot after reloading in AVG, which is required, the effect of the shutdown for some inexplicable reason is different from the reboot.) Anyway, it is back to its pre-Norton condition.
