    Thanks guys.

    Will look for removal tools for AVG and Norton. Will try kaspersky (and make sure I do not have the firewall problem fink mentioned).

    No, no, no.

    Using the norton removal tool is not that easy. Went to norton and the instructions indicate that I need to remove all existing symantec programs, including pcAnywhere and Winfax, which are both working well, before using the removal tool.

    PcAnywhere was difficult to set up several years ago and now it is working well. Cannot imagine having to reload in pcAnywhere. Similarly, with winfax I have loads of contacts and do not want the hassle of re-creating my present state. (Hopefully, fink will not now tell me that I will have to live with the existing sluggishness.)
