    Canon Laser Printer

I have a Canon L170 Faxphone laser printer. Does anyone know whether you can use refillable toner cartridges and refill the cartridge in the unit and whether you can use generic toner cartridges in this unit? I know there are many websites that sell generic ink/toner cartridges for printers. Many of these online companies are bad and sell very poor ink and that the ink runs out alot sooner than what is stated for each cartridge. I would like a few good reputable online websites that sell high quality generic toner cartridges?

I haven't seen any good generic toner. That's the rub with laser printers. There's no 'ink' to refill.

Hi, ProfessorU. Are you saying that you haven't come across a company who sells a good generic toner cartridge? You mean I should buy the Canon brand toner cartridge? In my search on the internet, I came across a few websites that sell generic toner cartridges for this Canon model laser printer at a fraction of the cost of the canon brand. I should stay away from any of them?

I suppose nobody really has experience with laser printers and whether using generic brand toner cartridges are just as good as using the overpriced brand name toner cartridges?

I have used black and white generic ones for an HP printer and they worked fine. I've never used generic color laser toner. If you're not in a business where color calibration is important, you can probably get away with it without causing any problems.

I have an old Brother laser printer and bought a reconditioned toner cartridge for it from a local shop a while back. I couldn't be more pleased with the results - at least as good as with the original, and less than half the price

Good to know that, Supersparks and ProfessorU. Can you or anyone reccommend a good website that sells generic toner cartridges. From what I read, there are many websites that sell these but, most of them are poor quality and/or do not produce the max. output of pages per cartridge as you are suppose to get with each cartridge. They give you less toner per cartridge which would give you far less max. number of pages, hence the cheaper cost. Any suggestions based on personal experience of good websits would be helpful.
