Spool32.exe corrupt
I'm running windows 98 and discovered that the file spool32.exe has become corrupt. I know this because i was having problems with my computer not booting up and kept getting an invalid page fault error caused by spool 32.
Someone else from another forum told me to delete the file and i did and the machine now boots up.
The probelm is that i cannot use my printer with this file deleted. I try to reinstall the printer driver but my pc does not recognize it.
I've tried restoring the file from the 98 CD but when i do the computer does not boot up, not even in safe mode.
I've ran numerous virus scan tools, and virus cleaners and everytime they come up clean.
Any ideas on how to restore this file without it causing boot up and printer issues?
Thanx

Have you tried reinstalling windows 98? I think 98 allows an overinstall, so you could repair the corrupted files without losing your user data.
Alternately, you could try to find someone else's printspooler file from win98 and put it back in the system directory (or wherever it was).

Yeah i did try to reinstall, but during the install the error message popped up again then the machine froze. I tried to resart but the install never continued and the machine wouldn't boot up. I then had to go to command prompt and restore the registry to get the computer back up.

I guess your options are:
1) Find the file from another win98 installation and copy it to yours or
2) Backup what you can, format and reinstall windows.
