it must have installed itself when I downloaded the programme 'songbird'

I have just run another scan and again it did not come up. Why when I first run a scan today it was clear, then an hour later it found the 'pup' then later it was clear again?

Can you believe it!! just done another scan and (you guessed it) its detected that Trojan again.
what do I need to do now?

I just want to say a big thank you for your help on this one. I have done what you said and just run a malwarebytes scan and it has come up clear:) now.

Thanks for that info, can anyone help me with this 'pup.datamngr' problem as to how to errase it completely

when I scan in malwarebytes it finds a Trojan called 'pup.datamngr' when finished scanning I select 'remove selected item' which I do, then restart. but when I scan next time its gone, but comes back...

thanks i tried in safe mode and i didnt come up. i tried that the other day but a day or so later it came up again on a normal scan, do you know if there is anyway to get rid of it permanently
