OK, here's where I admit how silly I am. Someone gave me a laptop once and said that they couldn't get the screen to work. It took me almost 30 minutes to figure out that there was a very sneaky...

Hmmmmm. First things first. Check that your power cable and data cable are attached correctly at the back of CDRom ....they sometimes work loose

Simple question.....you don't have a non system disk sitting in your floppy do you? Assuming you don't then my next questions are.....did it ever work? did it suddenly stop working? has someone been...

Dennis forgot to mention that you press F5 to bypass your startup files and get to the Dos prompt C:>. Then follow his instructions.

Hey Stoneycage. I told Jeff to keep it a secret that I was charging him $3,268,941 for the Killcmos program that I sent him!!!
Darned cheque bounced anyways......
As I said in the Mail Jeff, a...

Dennis.......where does he say that? I didn't see it....and still can't. Probably got that early senility thing going..........what were we talking about?

If you have the disks just re-install the Dos. Assuming you are talking about Dos and not MsDos mode.

Have you tried a little program called KillCMOS. Does no damage whatsoever....just resets everything to default. Guarantee it will do the business for you. Mail me if you want the program....it's a...

Yep....that was the link. To get to the drivers don't forget to click the 'I Agree' box at the bottom of the page though. Thanks Shag

This is not the link I had but it does the business nicely. The site is in German but the numbers are self explanatory. You should find what you are after for a Cirrus Logic card here....

Much to my disgust I seem to have lost the link that I had to a very good CL driver site. Is your chipset a 5422, 24, 26 or 28? I do have the 2 disk sets for both the 22 and 24 as well as the 26 and...

If the BIOS doesn't autodetect then it's likely that the BIOS battery will be a soldered on job as well. Don't know about where you are but we can pick up DX266 m/b's often with about 8meg of Ram and...

What sort of Computer is it?
What OS did it have on it?
What sort of bootdisk did you use?
Start again. Go to your BIOS and autodetect the Hard Drive (your drive is enabled in the BIOS right?),...

Hi
Try http://www.bootdisk.com for a bootdisk for most operating systems. They have a Dos one that will also install generic CDRom drivers as well. I tend to edit the batch file that comes with them...

Thanks for your E-Mail. You didn't answer as to whether they had been working and then ceased to. How confident are you in taking the case cover off and checking all the data
cabling.....the grey...

Internet Explorer 3 comes with a Mail Reader and apparently works fine.

Hate to be the 'devil's advocate' here but if that machine didn't come with a monitor then I'd probably save the floppy drive and not much else. 40mb's of Hard Drive and 4mb's of Ram will run you 3.1...

If it WAS working and now it suddenly isn't then the first thing I'd check would be your data cable that is slaving it off your Hard Drive. It may simply have come loose. When you say that your c:\...

Try buying a cheap old computer....they sometimes come with FREE Win3.x disks and Dos disks.
You could try asking Uncle Bill at www.Microsoft.com/piracy for his ideas...he he.

Does your sound work OK in Windows? What's in your Dosstart.bat file? I had a PnP Vibra16 that automatically installed the ctcm thing in the Dosstart as part of the Install. Is it a NEW Soundcard as...

There is a program...I think it's called ctbios....that will tell you not only your BIOS type and number but also tell you your motherboard type, model number, chipset and manufacturer. It will even...

Just hazarding a guess.......but are they .rar files? If it is there should be an executable file on one of the disks that will allow you to extract the archive. Like I say, I'm just stabbing in the...
