for q2, your drive may not be support DMA? And generally CD-RW are not recommended to use DMA

control panel->power management (or something similar, im on win98 at the moment) to enable APM, and i had the same problem with 2000 Pro and this fixed it

Shouldn't have to. First set up the folder like you like it with details etc. In explorer goto Tools->folder options, then on the view tab 'Folder views - You can make akk folders look the same'...

thanks nadine, i have just got the file from ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/reskit/win2000/ (for free) I shall try it tonight when I get home to my Win 2000 machine.

I would suggest all you need is a 10MB hub, as that would be cheaper and the performance difference not an issue since the internet connection is not greater than 10M.

When i connect to the net with a standard 56k internal modem, my tray icon indicates that i'm connected at 115.2Kbps. I know that this is the speed the com port connects to bus? or whatever, but how...
