The burner determines what speed media can be written to and some will not burn faster than the speed it tests for the media. But all burners will burn at high speed regardless of source speed, and...

My MWave computer was bought in early 1998 and had a single partition and restore folder. I think it was common back then with small manufacturers and custom makers because I have seen discussion on...

I put DocMem along with Sandra, AIDA32, AdAware, Spybot and the latest Norton AV on a CD to take with me. I would be surprised if it were hardware based. Sounds like a tired OS, but I’ll run the...

Thanks for the reply. I know they often store the cabs files if they don’t include a Windows CD. This computer came with a Win98CD.
When I got my Win98 Mwave computer I screwed something up...

A friend is having computer problems and I’m going over to his house tomorrow to see if I can’t straighten it out. From his description over the phone he doesn’t have a restore CD but it is not...

I agree that it is either a setting problem or there is something wrong with the camera. Steve doesn’t alter his sample pictures so these are straight from the camera:...

It doesn’t take a pro to see that BdiegoW has a big job ahead of him. Scanning, fixing and color correcting a bunch of old slides is a daunting task. Considering he could get an Epson 1660 Photo...

Both of those HPs are 1200 PPI optical which I don’t think is adequate for slides and film. They make a 3970 which is 2400 PPI, but HPs haven’t shown the transparency quality of the Epsons.

I wouldn’t consider anything but CF cards for the Oly 5050. SM is obsolete and goes only to 128Mb. There are terrific deals on CF cards. CF is at least as fast as the xD cards, more universal...

I carried a small film camera everywhere for years and switched from a 38-80mm Oly to a 28-70mm Konica. The difference was dramatic. When I went to digital I bought the Minolta D7i specifically for...

falcon 2000: Thought the thread was through – sorry.
The specialty house that does image printing plates for me has the only flatbed I’ve personally seen that competes with a dedicated film...

The Canon i850 is a 4 color utility printer that outputs very good photos if you don’t want larger than 8.5 X 11 size: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/canon_i850.html
Probably the...

If you are just playing them on your computer you can set up for multi-session and add more music. You have to set up for multi-session with the first session so it writes the lead-in for the second...

Having ME on the drive will not affect your ability to copy the files over. It is inert unless it is on a primary active partition.

You have a memory storage problem on vacation and probably don’t want to do it the way I do. I use the spot meter and just spot on different parts of the image. I think most cameras do sunsets...

If you will look here you will see an adapter in the lower circle that “sits on the glass”: http://www.microtekusa.com/sm4900.html It is a current model. It isn’t built into the lid. It...

The kind that "sit on the glass' do not use anywhere near the same technology. The ones built into the lid use a stepped motor driven moving light that is picked up in the sensor running in parallel...

Have a look in Scanners and Cameras in control panel and see if anything is listed. If there is you should be able to right click and remove it. Also have a look in device manager – you can...

The Epson and Canon flatbeds I linked are 3200 PPI and the Epson 3200 is the first flatbed that can go head to head with a lower rung dedicated film scanner. The HP isn’t in the same class. I...

The Epson 3200 actually does a decent job on slides and film. There is some interesting stuff in this 13 page review when he gets into film scanning. Plus you can scan 4 slides at once and it is...

I didn’t get technical. You need the numbers. And I need to post them so others can come up with better ideas. It is hard to disagree with a generic blob of a post.

Hey Buck –
I recently put together a system based on an Athlon and nForce2 chipset. I think the P4 is a better choice for what you are doing. There wasn’t a decent chipset available that...
