Ideally, you'd want to install XP SP3 from a slipstreamed disc.
The instuctions say SP2, but it works for SP3 also.

No, the hostname is your workstation name. So it is viva-1953, as shown in ipconfig. Viva-Ken is your username. The workstation name doesn't affect Internet access.

You didn't copy the command properly. Please do it again. You need the > to export it to a text file.

So you don't have any yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager anymore?
How did you check your gateway and DNS? Are you using DHCP or static IPs?

SMBus is part of the chipset drivers. You'd need to install those. If you did a clean install of Win7, did you also install the network card drivers?
