Everything is enabled, no conflicts. Just no power to adapter. There has to be a way to switch it on via software instead of manually like most newer laptops. There are no Fn keys...

I have a Sony PCG818, 300MHZ with 192 MB ram, 12GB HDD, that I installed WinXP on. It works good for the kid. So far very stable. I was/am impressed.

Well here is the update, none of the mentioned workarounds would work. I formatted and installed my backup. All is good now and nothing was lost.

O.K., I tried a PCI card, still black screen. I tried the windows repair option, still black screen. I backed evrything up onto DVD RW's and will likely format tomorrow.

I gave it 20 minutes this time and the safemode drivers were the only items viewable.
I think I need to retrieve anything I want off this and reformat and then re-install it all.
