I don't have that adapter, so I can't say exactly what will be detected in Device Manager. There may be separate entries for the video, ethernet, etc, in addition to something listed under USB.

What do you mean you don't think it recognized it? Did you look in Device Manager?
Did you try setting up the dual monitors or not? It won't switch automatically....
