I've only seen this once. Solved by verifying the network properties. Turns out the IP was on the wrong segment and using a static IP. Changed it over to DHCP and everything was hunky...

Any one what this file does? It loads up with the system but it's not in the usual places-->start menu, win.ini, config.sys, autoexec.bat, registry run keys....

I've renamed it and...

If all else fails, you may be having H/W issues. Defective RAM, overclocked CPU + board, loose CPU (i've seen it! Thermal expansion?)...

Hey guys, just started doing tape backups on a server and the log says it can't access this file because it is busy? Whats "MSIMGSIZ.DAT"? A search the Microsoft knowledge base reveals nothing.

Try extracting the file from your CAB files.
type the following line from a command prompt:
extract /a win95_02.cab msgsrv32.exe

If not you could always copy the file from another PC.

I could leave instructions for everyone that logs in but this seems impractical for multiple...

Try replacing the winsock files. There is a batch file called ws2bakup.bat, that will do it automatically...I think you can get it straight from Microsoft.
