Hello rev :)
Once you have your Classic Theme set up
Go into Services and STOP the "Theme" service
Then change it to MANUAL in the drop down box.
Try that and see if it helps.

Did you defrag the drive before shrinking? There may be system files that are fixed in place on the disk - if they can't be moved, then that will limit the available shrink...
