And as you can see from those specs that they are virtually identical. I highly doubt you will see any benchmark differences between the two and most definitely will not see any naked-eye difference...

Yup....its normal for RAM to default to 1066mhz. The speed can be reconfigured in the BIOS, HOWEVER....

Go to Start>run and type in : diskmgmt.msc and see it it shows that drive to be 2 partitions. If so, I believe from there you can merge them into one partition. Are you sure that 1.45 MB partition...

Before you initialize those drives, try reading them with a different setup i.e. external enclosure. Some people have reported that when they switched USB setups, the new one would read the drives...

Was that Windows 7 Home Premium on the machine? If so, no need to bother with putting Professional or Ultimate on it. If Vista, then by all means just replace it with Win 7 Home Premium.
