Good advice from Train.
Besides a machine with Win98SE properly set up is just as stable and can be made as fast as WinXP
(Yes I have Both and one of my PC's is set up Dual Boot)

You don't necessarily have to use Access or Excel, but try to use Microsoft Query to retrieve data from an external data source.
Information is available from Word 2002 "Help".

I apologize for the mixup....That NDIS.VXD has to do with video problem. I had two windows open at the time and I inadvertently inserted the wrong response to your Post.

What you may have needed in that machine was an updated NDIS.VXD file. I forget what the old version was, but 98 seems to need v4.10.2222.
I ran into that same problem some time back...

You may need to Completely clean out possibly old files from registry , etc. using these Nero Clean Tools.

Also check to see what programs you have, that may be doing an "Auto" update, when you go on line.
I suspect you may be having a video driver problem.
