you didnt mention which motherboard you have... but with a system with specs like that, Id start thinking that hardware may be a cause... ram and motherboard problems will sometimes have that effect....

32mb Ram
but i had it installed on a P166 (I admit i had 128mb Ram) and it worked fine, again better than either...

Using the modem driver for ur modem (not standard modem) should help... but it wont be true speed, just initial connection speed.

U have to add NETWORK to the allowed list (if u rnt worried about pesky security probs just allow everyone and network)... that should do it...
