ok - i think i have sussed it out .. NTFS is best from what i can gather ....unless anybody can advise why not.

On the online ordering system I get the option of XP installed with FAT32 or NTFS .. can anybody advise what the downside to either would be?

Thanks - these are SP2 and i have checked the XP firewall settings ..
Can you advise as to how else can a machine block FTP processes outside of the XP supplied firewall..

When i try and open TXT files I get a Norton virus alert. it warns me of a download trojan but the exe file names it says are infected are random and nothing comes up...

Sorry - completley new to this...
I didn't envisage a power plug? I haven't removed the harddrive from the laptop - wouldn't the desk top power it?
