Yes I tried another keyboard with the same result I will next look at the connection it is a ps/2type connection on the motherboard so I'll check that next.

The jumpers were set correctly. HDD-master and the cdrom-slave. And I believe there was only one ide connector on the machine that the drive wouldn't work in...as I said I put it into a different...

I believe it said it was the d:drive which was the cdrom. I do not think it was the secondary IDE controller as the drive was connected to the second connector on the cable attached to the primary...

Thanks to all for all the help. I still can't get that to work in that machine,,,BUT,,,I put the same cdrom into another machine with a pentium chip and it WORKED....go figure.

It is a mitsumi J05 / I02, the only numbers on the drive.
I emailed mitsumi and they replied it is PnP and needs no additional drivers. Will keep you updated.

Have you tried going into device manager and remove the mouse and re-boot? Windows should reconize and install the mouse.

I tried all the above possibilities with no luck.
What I did is blew out the hard drive and started over. The cdrom works in dos and I am able to install windows 95. When windows 95(not DOS) starts...

Mitsumi's web site has a diagnostic program that you can down load. I did and it works.
