You can also save documents as MS Word docs (.docx) from LibreOffice Writer, in case you need to send them to other people.

You didn't tell us if you have 32 or 64-bit Windows. X86_64 would be for 64-bit Windows.
I just clicked on the downloads and I didn't get any virus warnings. What browser are you using? I'm using...

Why are you surprised? Microsoft Office has always been a paid product.
