I'm just wondering: Does the battery need to be replaced? I'm thinking maybe that's it. The laptop is three or four years old.

    HP scanner's glass is broken

I have tried HP. They say they don't replace the broken glass. Does anyone know what I could do to fix this?

I'd hate to have to replace the whole thing. Too expensive at this point.
  4. Backup

I've done as you suggested. I have a full backup on an external drive. I had to stop my system from reinstalling the thing. But it worked finally once I pointed to the other drive.

    Thanks for the...
  5. How and where should I back up my programs?

Recently my computer starting snarking to me that it couldn't find my setup files for IE8, and asked me to please reinstall it.

Miraculously, I was able to get on after all a couple days later.

Thanks to Spyware Doctor -- his tip worked!

Once again, this forum has saved me!!

Spyware Doctor's suggestion to unplug it, take the battery out, wait two minutes and put everything back worked like a charm!

    Thank you fervently.

My husband's HP laptop somehow got its display turned on its side. We haven't been able to figure out why or to fix it.

He shut it down now out of disgust. But how could we fix it?

  13. MP3 player

I get question marks on the ports and a message to disconnect the device and click RESET. It happens every time I reset it.

This is really maddening. I need a new option.
  14. MP3 players don't cooperate with my USB ports

Recently I bought a refurbished (had them before, and they were fine) MP3 player, Zen Vision M, Creative brand (which has the best sound). Now I have to send it back because my cockamamie USB ports...

    Printer recommendations

    Printer problem

Well, darn. It went back to its old wicked ways. I just might have to consider a new printer after all. Sigh. Oh well.

Regarding some other kind of printer, I really just want another inkjet.

I never would've believed something like that would work. Never even occurred to me.

    Thanks

Well, Train, you know what? I tried your suggestion and it worked! We'll see what happens; it might well go back to the way it was, but for now, it's OK.

    Printer recommendations, anyone?

For a couple of years now, I'm had a Canon Pixma ip3600 printer. At first I really liked it because of its separate ink tanks, but somehow it has started to malfunction. It prints fine for a page or...
  21. Flash drive

I have now tried all these things. Maybe the answer is there's nothing in there. Maybe I mistook it for a previous flash drive I had. Oh well, maybe just use it for backup or something.
  22. Flash drive

I'll try that. I've tried putting it in different ports, even on another computer. So far nothing has worked, but . . .
  23. Flash drive

Tried a couple different ports on my computer. I'll try it on other computers here and we'll see.
