I have a client with a Toshiba laptop, about 2 years old. In the last 3 months she has managed to blow out 5 chargers...... I have no idea why! That's 3 Belkin ones compatible to her specifica...

I asked the Director who took the DVDs (3 of them!) what he did with them and had he used them - he "can't remember". The DVD backups now reside in a locked safe which even the Board of Directors...

Ooookay, now even though I haven't done anything but run the r-studio software and saved the log, it's now asking me to "insert the next volume in the multi-disk set".

I'm trying that bit of software - it's been running for nearly 48 hours now and is still not done. I'll report back if it does any good, or indeed if it doesn't.
It seems to think two of those...

Thanks for the list of file recovery programs, but I've already tried 6 of those, to no avail.
And normally I have 3 backups in place - one to an external hard drive, two to leapfrogged DVDs, but...

I wasn't sure whether to put this in the Desktop Hardware (more probable views) or in Gadgets etc, so please bear with me!
I have a 16Gb Kingston flash drive, which is only ever used in my own...

Thanks for that suggestion but I tried that first - the driver on the old disc is "Soundmax Digital Audio 5.12.01.3620". I downloaded that and tried to install it, and that's when I got the...

Hi there
I'm a bit stumped, and wondering if anyone has any ideas.
I'm installing a new hard drive on a Tiny laptop, Everest reports the motherboard as being an FIC360.

Oh, I did, but my problem was in installing the mobo chipset utilities that Toshiba supplied first!
And next time I'll know to check the international sites too.... :)

Thank you, Train, for your links, after a bit of experimentation the Intel chipset driver worked perfectly!
To get it to work, I had to do a clean install, then experiment with the order of...

Funnily enough I've just set up a second hand one of these for my mate!
The trackpoint in the middle of the keypad is your only way to control a mouse. The machine has one USB port only, so my...

Ah, that could be useful! I'll download that file and give it a try when I get home from work. I'll also look through the full driver listing there, to see if I may be missing anything else.

Thanks for the replies
According to Toshiba's specs, this is the card that the model of laptop was originally supplied with, by Toshiba. That is, the card was built-in to the laptop by Toshiba...

Yes, it is a removable - as I stated it's a mini-pci card, the Intel 2200 BG. As I also stated I've already tried the drivers direct from Intel. And just to clarify, I've tried some older ones as...

Just to tidy off this thread at long last - after a year and a half of this problem, waiting anxiously for the computer to die, I found the solution.
It got so bad that I could only boot one time...

I don't have a different graphics card, unfortunately. As a last resort I'll think about getting hold of one, they're not too expensive these days for non-gamers like me!
No worries about...

Yes, I did set the jumper back! I would have really kicked myself if I hadn't!
It's an Antec PSU, True Control model, so I would have thought it would be OK. Yes, I bought it on sale, but I'd...

The PSU cost me £30, it's a 550w model, so I hope it's not faulty! Luckily it is still under guarantee.
I'll get hold of one of those tester thingys and report back.
Thanks

I should have clarified what I'd already done!
I pulled the battery AND shifted the appropriate jumper in accordance with the mobo manufacturer's instructions.
