Running Windows 2000 PRO on the PC. (It belongs to a friend) Will check for digital audio playback on CD-ROM and see if it is there.

While music CD is played in CD-ROM, every keystroke is heard through the speakers if the keyboard is used.

This was an older PC which used to have W98SE.
The hard drive was erased, and XP PRO (OEM Version) installed on it.
No CD was provided, nor a COA.

He tried:
%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a
and did it correctly. In fact, did it three times while I was telling him how on the phone.
Another option we tried was:
