And then there's the part where I turned my chair and grabbed the keyboard/mouse to my Win VISTA computer.... It connects and prints just fine on the new server with the HP 2035.

Ya, I've read about needing a Windows machine for Easy Print.
The customer with the MAC is one of our smallest... His argument last week was "everything worked perfectly on the old server...

Inshort, from what I've discovered is that by default, Easy Print is enabled on 2012r2.
When you disable Easy Print via gpedit , you can add drivers for a printer the good old fashion way....
