Video CD-R
I have a 1.6 Win XP computer, and a win 98 computer 400 Mhz. I picked
up a program that calls for "Video CD-R" or "Super Video CD-R" to make a
copy on. I have never heard of these type of CD-R disks. How are the
different from a regular CD-R, how much do they cost and where do I get
them.
Thanks, Jerry

Vcds (video cds) and svcds (super video cds) are a way video is recorded onto normal cdrs ( or cdrws ..) , and can be similar to dvds with chapters, menus etc
Vcds are around vhs quality for example, running at
352 x 288 pixels , 25 frames/second in pal or the lower quality 352 x 240 pixels
29,97 frames/second ntsc
Svcds are higher quality (but less can be stored on the cd obviously) and run at 480 x 576 pixels , 25 frames/second pal, and 480 x 480 pixels , 29,97 frames/second in ntsc format.
Programs like Nero can make them assuming you have the correct plugins.
Many modern standalone dvd players can play them as can all computers with a software dvd player.

Are you saying a video cd is just a way of recording a cd-r and any cd-r
can be used as a video cd-r.
Thanks, Jerry

Yes, a video cd or super video cd is a normal cd with the video encoded in a certain way , just like video recorded in a certain way onto a dvd becomes a dvd video or just like a set of wav files recorded in a certain way onto a cd becomes an audio cd...
