Tonight when I booted up I saw a "GDI+ Window" application on the task bar (does not have a right click menu and nothing happens with left click)
It has never been there before.

Can't say for sure. To quote MS: "GDI+ is a graphics device interface that provides two-dimensional vector graphics, imaging, and typography to applications and programmers."
There was a big security issue with it a few years ago (buffer overflow vunerability). I presume you have MS Office installed? If so, go to the Office update site and get the lastest Service Packs, etc.: http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/do...s/default.aspx
It should install a GDI checker which may/may not rid you of the application.
Failing that, try and identify it in task manager and kill it. Then install Spybot; use the Advanced interface, goto Tools > Startup section and check to see if it's there (then uncheck it)
