Using XP. Just set up a new hotmail email account. Is there a way to get notification of new email to my desktop? When I was using thunderbird, an icon would appear in the status bar/system tray indicating the arrival of new email. Can this be done with hotmail?

I've read, that there are some issues with reading HTML mail through it (text cut-offs), but just for notification, it should work good.

I am back to square one. Downloaded eprompter and installed. Was not notified. Went to eprompter forum and read that as of 12/29/08, hotmail may not work with eprompter.
Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks again. This one works with hotmail. Sent email to my hotmail address. After a couple of minutes, received both an icon in my system tray and a sound.
Now, if only the Dolphins win today, all of my dreams will have come true.
