THE BUG HAS RETURNED...A NEW CHAPTER
Reformatting my C drive was not difficult, but lo and behold I realized today early that I now have Vista running the system. When I originally purchased this ACER, it was running XP Home, but it had a one-time upgrade to Win7 Home Premium, which I eagerly performed. Now that I've formatted C to start anew, I'm running Vista. I'm not so much concerned about why the Vista thing, but I don't like the in-molasses-in-January slowness I'm experiencing :/ Also, I'm not able to install Vista Service Pack 2...the Windows Update site only shows the download beginning, but it never starts, and a link on the Microsoft site, after allowing me to successfully download it, gave me a notification of "insufficient permissions" when the d/l was complete. What's that about?
I'd appreciate any help I can get, as I've also run into problems trying to d/l and install IE8 or 9 :/ I'm told that I must install further updates before I can successfully do so??
Very frustrated...I was looking forward to a crisp, new C drive, but instead I've gotten a dreadfully slow Vista dinosaur that tells me what I can't do :/ I'd actually like to upgrade this system to Win7 Home Premium again, and I'll spend the money to do so. But now I'm worried about the slowness and why I even have Vista! I can probably uninstall lots of programs showing in my Control Panel, too...
Thanks...
