On the desktop there are lines underneath all icons and in the Explorer window there seem to be missing toolbars. No one else was on the computer. Why did this change? How do I get rid of the Lines underneath these Desktop icons?

On the desktop there are lines underneath all icons and in the Explorer window there seem to be missing toolbars. No one else was on the computer. Why did this change? How do I get rid of the Lines underneath these Desktop icons?
Right-click Start > Explore > Tools > Folder Options > General
Under "Click Items as Follows" move your tick mark from "Underline Icon Titles Consistent With My Browser" to "Underline Icon Titles Only When I Point At Them".
I don't have that under General in Win 98 but I do have Web style and Classic style.
Why did everything change?

Lines--On the General tab of Folder options, click Settings. The next window has the place to check whether you want icon underlines or not. At the end of your choice click Apply|OK.
Missing Toolbars--Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer? What is missing?
Why?--One of windows little tricks. Sometimes a reboot will correct.
