what happened

dont know if i can explain this right but here goes, today when i cut on my computer it started up with a scan, i didnt shut down incorectley or schedule one. it stated about 100 or more times that diffrent files were crossed filed and windows had corrected this by copying files. this took a long time and when it stopped xp came up and every thing worked fine except the printer. so i deleted the printer and reinstalled the printer and software. went into device mgr. and updated driver. now it shows i have two printers, one wont work when i click on it it says there is no printer but the other one works fine. everything seems fine now i just wonder what happened.

Delete the other printer entry in the Control Panel.

is there an explanation on why the abrupt scan and how all those files got cross filed
