win95 vmm32 missing
my next door neighbor couldnt load his win95 on the comp.
it got past the post, then said vmm32 missing,i went to safe mode, and dos prompt, put in vmm32 file from win98se,but still didnt work.
i then had to do a clean install for him.
what i would like to know is.
how i could have done it different from safe mode,to get the vmm32 file back into win95??
btw,i could get into safe mode, but it would not allow me to get into windows95.i dont know much about working from safe mode.like getting up the bootlog, and things.

The VMM32.VXD is created at the time Windows is installed. If this is a fresh installation, it is easier to reinstall. You can rebuild the VMM32.VXD. But as you can see, that can be complicated.
I have some tips at Windows 95 Troubleshooting that might help you use things like Bootlog.
