First I'll advise you of my situation.
Home Office, 3 computers behind a Linksys Cable Router (upgraded to 1.36 firmware).
My computers are: Pentium 466C running Win2k with NIS for added security.
New Pentium3 800 running NIS with ZoneALarm for security.(ZA has been patched to fix the Win2k/Sp1 bug.)
My wife's Pentium 200 works fine running Win98SE with NIS.
Now, here's my problem.. my Pentium 466 runs perfectly, the only time I get an interruption on the internet is when my cable goes out.
However, my Pentium 800 frequently just STOPS retrieving web pages for me. I can be browsing webpages, and suddenly, the next page I click just won't load for me! HTTP and FTP are affected, but ICQ still runs properly. My internal network is fine also. The only way to get the internet back is a re-boot.
I realized that I should be checking my hardware, but I don't know how this would be a problem. It seems like only part of my TCP/IP connection is affected, can a faulty NIC or cable affect just part of a protocol?
Anyway, I changed my NIC, and the problem happened again.
I unistalled the drivers and network protocols, (then re-installed), and it happpedned again!
I uninstalled ZoneAlarm, it also wasn't a factor.
I changed ports on my router..didn't help.
