Configuration: "K2" is Win98 (now upgraded to SE but was straight when this started), with a 3Com 10/100BaseT Network card. Also has USR 56Kb external going to ISP (Should be a non-issue, but…)
"Kilauea" is Win98SE clean install 2 weeks ago, also 3Com 10/100BaseT.
LinkSys Auto sensing Hub, both cables Cat5.
"K2" Sees "Kilauea", can access all drives and the printer… No problem… "K2" one happy camper!
Problem: "Kilauea" cannot see ANYTHING! Oh, everything runs OK, but in Network Neighborhood, there are NO computers (not "K2", Not "Kilauea"… Hey for a couple of days there was no Network Neighborhood! I at lest got THAT back…)
In Networking: Primary Network login is set to "Client for Microsoft Networks", 3Com Card is picked up OK and I have set up the network as TCP/IP (The sever, "Haliatunturi", will be Linux so I don't want to use NetBEUI) and I have implemented "File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks" and domain is "TGG" on both machines…
I THINK that the problem is that when "Kilauea" starts up it is NOT logging into the network (No "Log onto Network" Screen appears) but I thought that setting the Primary Network login to "Client for Microsoft Networks" caused that to happen… but it seems that it is not…
I know this is a very simple fix and I have been told that "this is what happens when "Database Guys" try to play with networking!" But I hope someone can provide the correct spell/incantation to fix this…
Thanks In Advance…
