Just a little background. We do all of our major printing on XEROX 4135 printers. We use FNT fonts on these printers. We have a PC application that we use to create forms. The PC application interfaces with Microsoft Word to allow us to create the form. Once the form is created, the application allows us to output it in metacode format so it can be printed on the XEROX printers.
When creating the forms using this PC application, we must be able to create the form using the fonts we have available on the XEROX printers. If the application were capable of using the FNT fonts on the XEROX machine, that would be great. But, of course, it can't. It requires that the fonts be in TTF format. Hence, our need to have all of our FNT fonts that reside on the XEROX printer converted to TTF format.
One important point to keep in mind: it is most important that the TTF version of the font have the EXACT SAME METRICS as its corresponding FNT font. Otherwise, we'll end up with gaps and overlapping characters in our forms when they print on the XEROX printers. So, we need a 1-to-1 correspondence of the fonts (i.e., for every FNT font there will be a TTF font).
thanks in advance!!
