3D Studio Max problem

I just installed 3D studio Max 3 and the first time i ran it i received an error msg:

"Hardware lock is not attached or you are using the wrong lock, or the lock device drivers are not running"

I really don't understand what that means or what's wrong. Please let me know what I have to do to fix that..

i don't beleive their is a hardware lock that comes with 3d studio max 3.Seen this error before but don't remember the solution if i find it i will post it.

check this link and then click on 3ds max forum they probeably will be able to tell u what to do.
