See if you can help me win this bet. Is there any truth to the fact that when a user buys Office 2K SR1, it will only allow for 1 installation and if the user tries to install it on more than one PC, it will only work for 50 tries and then stops working? I don't see how this is possible but the "office smart guy" swears by this.

Well, yes and no.
Office 2000 does not have product activation, so technically you are correct. But, the technology is being developed for Office XP which will have the 50 startups before registration setup. read this (http://www.winmag.com/columns/insider/2001/03.htm) for more info.
Tell him he is a product release off and owes you.
