I have a 486 running dos 6.2 + windows 3.11 i recently switched on machine after it working fine the day before to have message displayed dirve not ready please insert boot disk.
I insert boot disk but cannot get any access to by C: hard drive. I have restored the defaults in the BIOS what can it DO?
please please help

McAffee can cause this problem sometimes. Try uninstalling it.

Drive not ready sounds familiar. I think the machine is trying to boot from another device. Do you have any other disks in the machine? have you tried setting the BIOS to boot from ONLY the hard drive?

Well somebody had to answer him.. he waited a long time..9 years, 11 months, 4 days, 16 hours and 42 minutes?
I'd be willing to bet that he retired his 486 running Windows 3.11 a long time ago. ;)

I guess that would be a pretty remarkable uptime, for a Windows computer.

Thanks. Also check to see how many times OP has posted to his/her questions. If, like this thread, and it's partner, no more response from OP, is a good indication you shouldn't post there either. :D
