In January I bought a new Dell GX 400 system with Windows 2000 and it came with IE 5.00.3315.1000.

Does this mean that I cannot ... or should not upgrade IE to the latest 6.x version?

If this is true, can you explain why not?

I have ordered the latest IE 6.x CD but I have not decided whether to install or not because once it is installed, 6.x cannot be uninstalled.

I was wondering why such a top notch company like Dell had not put the latest IE version on my new computer.

Thanks

Linda

You can uninstall version 6.0. Also, you can upgrade to any version you like.

I find IE 5.5 SP2 to be the best,IE 6.0 isn't as good.

Linda, under Add/Remove Programs you'll see IE6 listed after you install it. You'll have 3 options: add a component, repair IE, or revert to a previous version.

If you r going to install IE 6.0 I would Seriously first upgrade you current versin to 3315 first.

2600. That would be a certain website would it not
