Hi Guys
Would anybody know how to uninstall IE5.5 on a win2000 pc? We need to test software on a previous version.

I don't know if this would be the only/best way of uninstalling, but try this:
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down the list to Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and Internet Tools. Then click on Add/Remove. This should safely remove IE.
EDIT: Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this one! http://discussions.virtualdr.com/biggrin.gif
Hope this helps

If memory serves me on this one you cant delete ie this way but only downgrade to a prevous version or fix any errors in the current program. I dont know how to totally remove it. I also could be wrong though.

EvilBradPitt: Thanx for the rectification - you're right I've just checked again and you can't remove IE like this. http://www.thejs.net/noncgi/smilies/redface.gif

Keep in mind I'm a bit of a newbie when I say this, but what about deleting all folders that have anything to do with it. C:\\Programfiles\Internet explorer? Mine has a folder entitled "uninstall", but All there were was some inf. files in there. Maybe deleting the whole folder, or some sections would do the trick.

What about downgrading to a lower version, how would you do that? I've got the uninstall file too but it contains very little.

Spawny, the best indicator I know of is www.98lite.net (http://www.98lite.net) and they still haven't got a reliable method to reinstall. I assume you need to check it on NT? At the moment, I guess you'd need to try on a copy of NT.

In windows 98se you can downgrade to a lower version (provided you have upgraded at some point I presume) by following Goldust's instructions and choosing the option to revert to an earlier version.

first of all delete the file containing
ie 5.
then delete the entries of ie5 in registry.
you can do it using tweak ui.
clear the name of internet explorer5
in the add remove program by using tweak ui.
