Domain Registering Recommendations?

AM getting ready to register a domain. Anyone have a recomendations on who to use, how to do it, or the need to use web hosting while I set up?

I'm using halfpricehosting.com. They will "park" a domain name for free (hoping of course you will eventually pick them as your web host!).

You can also register your domain name right from their site. It's pretty painless.
