My videocard: Viewtop 3D Labs permedia 4mb
and my KTX 17"OSD monitor are not able to be configured succesfully to let me view Xwindows in Linux.
Your help greatly appreciated.

Which version of Linux are you using? Red Hat 6.0 has updated drivers but I'm not sure about that particular card.

1. Check the vendor's web site for compatibility.
2. Try a more common setting like SVGA.
3. Got any error message? Nowadays, all version of Linux should be fairly easy to install. Not much tweaking needed. For some earlier versions, you might need to modify some configuration files to have the correct path..
