I have an SBPC128 soundcard and an NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 (Model 64) video card. These run fine in my Win 98 partition - 98 recognises
PnP. Running DIAGNOSE.EXE (old vibra16 version) I get device in use/error messages
in my DOS6.22/WIN 3.11 partition. Problem:
how do get an OS that is not PnP aware to
recognise my cards. I've heard some talk of
using configuration managers but which ones?
And what device driver(s) should I use?

Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated.

The sound blaster PCI128 card will work in a DOS environment if you use a configuration manager like CTCM. This will work for DOS based games
There are no drivers avbailable for either of these cards for Windows 3.1 & most likely never will be. Very very few manufacturers write drivers for 3.1 any more
Both these cards are PnP & are designed for Windows 95 or greater
Sorry

Thanks. Guess I'll have to write my own. I've tried CTCM but what sound drivers should I use with it - will any do?

If you check the manufacturers websites for these cards you will see that there is no support for them in Windows 3.1 at all.
As I said the SB128 will work in DOS only. This is for games. The card is designed for Windows 95 or greater.
You will only get 16 colors out of the video card in Windows 3.1 as well
Sorry but thats the breaks
I seriously doubt that you would be able to write your own Windows 3.1 drivers. You know not what you ask!
