Can you please tell me if it is possible to have 2 computers attatched to the internet on the same phone line at the same time using the same ISP.
One is a standard PC with a K6-2-400MHZ Processor and internal 56K modem running win98
The second is a Laptop running win3.1 with a 28bps modem
1 PC is in the office and the other in the main living area of the house
Hope this is possible
Thanks Peter

If you set up internet connection sharing on the Win98 machine, then yes. Actually what it does is the Win98 machine is connected to the internet and the 3.1 machine will access it and use the bandwidth to hit the net. I've never configured it myself, much less with a 3.1 machine. Try posting in the win98 forum for directions on configuring the Win98 machine if you want to use the internet connection sharing route. Also might want to search the microsoft page and see what you need to have for the 3.1 machine to access the 98 machine, they probably will need to be networked.

Hi!
You will need LAN card connections between the computers. I use a program called Wingate and have seen programs in the stores like Winproxy and Sygate. Most of these will work in Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows 98. But I don't know if they will work accoss versions. I have seen many problems on these boards trying to get a Windows 98 machine and a Windows 95 machine to network. So 3.1 to 98 is an even bigger stretch.
Most of these programs make the machine hooked to the Net, a server for the other machines. So the operating system may be of no importance. I have had 3 remote computers on with my computer (max for this program). I have also seen shareware or freeware version of these proxy's out htere.

Hey Dennis,
Next project....You mentioned you use LAN cards. Is that the same as a ethernet card setup? I am going to download Wingate today and then get some hardware and see what I can do. Let me know, and provide any tips you may have.
Thanks,
