Could you please also tell me the following: the complete c: drive of my laptop is backed-up on a remote USB hard disk drive. I have made a boot-disk using the Novadisk back-up program. How do I modify the boot-disk files to include the drivers for the remote HDD so that the latter can be recognised when I boot-up in dos using the boot-disk(s)?

Hi,
Try this:
On your hard drive, try
edit c:\config.sys
and check to see if there is anything starting with "device=" or "devicehigh=" that could possibly have anything to do with your USB hard drive. Try looking into your a:\autoexec.bat file as well, to see if any drivers that load up for your remote hard drive.
If you do find anything that could be relevant to your remote drive, it should be a simple matter of adding the lines to the config.sys and autoexec.bat files on your Novadisk startup disk. Don't forget to copy the appropriate files that are required at startup too! http://www.virtualdr.com/forums/smile.gif
