I have unsuccessfully tried (3 times) to get aol to mail me disks for aol. Each time I call to request software, they claim they have no record of me but will "send disks out today" and they should arrive "7 to 10 working days".
any suggestions?

I highly recommend that you avoid AOL like the plague. It is one of the preeminently worst services in the world by any standard. I highly recommend that you sign up with a local Internet service provider in your area, which you can track down at http://thelist.internet.com . Also, for complete information on AOL, check out http://www.aolsucks.org. I'm not affiliated with it.

Well I wouldn't put it in quite the same way as apple3141592 :-) but I do suggest you stay away from AOL. If you EVER want to remove it from your machine, it's the biggest hell on earth and you usually have to reinstall the OS.

I can't stop laughing. Why does everyone hate AOL? Its the greatest invention in the history of mankind since the Macintosh. You can use it around the world, its easy to use, has great aol only content, gives you internet access, great customer support, and lots of great features no one else has. Its hard to imagine life without it--and the bias against it reminds me of bias against mac users, women, gays and lesbians, etc, because its just not rational. Try AOL. You'll love it.

I have to agree with eaarendil. Even though AOL has it's problems, it's still #1 no matter WHAT survey you read.
A comment, though, on the initial posting here... Don't call AOL for anything, especially to get their software. It can be downloaded from anywhere and comes as an "extra" on so many other disks. My suggestion is the pay a few dollars to buy a magazine at the store...they always have a free AOL CD with them. If all else fails, go to Blockbuster! I saw yeterday that they have the AOL 5.09 CDs there free at the checkout counter.

why does everyone hate AOL? It is the giant. People hate MS for the same reason. But also the baggadge it gives you. The whole application is bloat. My sisters use it but I use compuserve, dial in through remote access and nothing there but the web browser. I do dislike compuserve too but i'm guess i'll try www.freei.net (http://www.freei.net)
