Kenwood Model UCR 401 CD ROM Driver

Replaced Apple CD ROM drive in Macintosh G3 (old style) computer with Kenwood CD ROM drive Model UCR004010 (IDE ATAPI interface). Icon of CD ROM does not appear on desktop and message appears that this disk is not readable by this computer, do you want to initialize. Have reloaded O.S. 8.5 many times and also loaded Appled CD ROM software version 5.4 many times with no results. Can anyone give some suggestions and also tell me if a driver for this CD ROM is available? Kenwood website only has drivers for PCs!

The best I can suggest is take a look at FWB's CD-ROM toolkit and see if your drive is supported. FWB is pretty dependable and worht the purchase for non-Apple CD drives.
