I installed the drivers for my NIC, but for some reason it says:

"Network card not detected in the system"

what gives??

wasup.

You got to remember that it is NT. You could install any driver for practically any piece of hardware and NT would take it. Although the hardware wouldn't work for obvious reasons.

Is the nic "on-board" or is it an expansion card? If it's on-board check to make sure it's enabled in the BIOS settings.

Is the nic "plugnplay" or a "legacy" device. If it's a legacy make sure you have the jumpers set right

Is the error message you receive the result when you type "ipconfig" at the command prompt or a message you get while your installing the card. Either or, it could be that you are using the wrong driver for the card

Hope this helps

Well at first I thought the NIC wasn't seated properly, and it wasn't so I pushed it in further.... and still it didnt work.

As far as what kind of device, its the same NIC I use for Win 98 on my other system.
And that one works.
its a PCI Plug and Play, Linksys LNE 100TX.
