Exchange Server 5.5 (sending mail)

I've got Exchange server 5.5 setup, however users can only receive email sent to them from outside the organisation.
Users cannot send mail within or outside of the organisation. Please help

Has this ever worked correctly ?

Are all of the Exchange Server Services running ??

Are the following Exchange Server Protocols loaded and configured : IMAP4 and POP3 ??

Yes it has worked before.
All the services are up and running.
And yes, the protocols are loaded.

That's why I find this so bizzzzzare.

Maybe it is something to do with your ISP. Can you ping everything outside your network (DNS server etc.....) ?


Our Exchange Server goes thru MS Proxy Server and certain ports and permissions must be present at the Proxy.

stop and restart the message transfer agent on all your exchange servers, better yet just reboot ALL your exchange servers
