I have set up a VPN from my home to my work office using RAS and PPTP. I access my work network just like I am another node wired right to my network. I have read/heard other people post about checking email through their VPN and this type of setup. I was wondering how this is done. How can I dial into my work network and check email when I am essentialy just another computer on the network and not taking remote control of my work computer which is where my email is set up. Hope this is somewhat clear.

It depends on your email settings. I know if you use microsoft outlook you can configure it to check your email from your home computer as well as work.

Open your VPN connection. If you are using Outlook create new profile just as you would at the office. Make sure you have your exchange server in the Lmhosts file. It will take a couple seconds for the check name to resolve the server & mailbox name.
